It’s Never What You Think

March 31, 2009 / Editorial

Everyone has heard that the grass is greener on the other side. But is it really? This image was created for a powerful series at our church about lust. Not your typical Sunday morning message. Of course, this isn’t your typical church. If you’re curious, see it at http://www.portcitychurch.org/weekendcurrentseries.php

Bringing Back Gidget

/ Editorial, Film

She’s coming back to a beach near you! My friend, and very talented film maker, Joey Connolley, and I were hired to cover a surf contest in Cocoa Beach. What a dream assignment!! Gidget Worldwide was a co-sponsor. They’re re-branding this famous name from the fifties. Our mission was to produce a DVD and still images capturing some of Florida’s finest up-and-coming surfers. Joey and I took turns shooting HD footage and photos. We had a BLAST! Look for the trailer to our short film coming soon!

Alabama Port Authority Ads Win Best of Show in Mobile Addy’s

February 10, 2009 / Editorial, News

Great news: We just found out that Mobile Bay Addys awarded Best of Show to the Alabama State Port Authority print ads I worked on with Art Director Stephean Grimes (Red Square in Mobile, AL). The work will be forwarded on to the regional and then national (hopefully!) Addy Awards. Congrats to all of the folks at Red Square and the Port Authority who assisted with this assignment. See the ads below; for more pictures from this shoot, look for the July 18th, 2008 post titled “Shootin’…” earlier in this blog.

Which Way Will They Go?

January 9, 2009 / Editorial, News

I like shooting different things. Personal, intimate portraits. Or specialized conceptual images with lots and lots of layers. Either way, CDP can take you where you want to go. New splash page coming soon!

You gotta know when to hold ’em….

Last week I once again had the pleasure of working with Mobile-based ad agency Red Square. This time the assignment was to create four eye-stopping pictures for a casino in Biloxi. It was truly a southeastern production with two of the crew from Georgia, a clothes stylist from Alabama, a makeup artist from Mississippi, another assistant from Louisiana, one of the models from Florida, and me from North Carolina. The 12+ hour day flew by and we got some great shots. Here’s a behind-the-scenes peak and my favorite image from the first set-up. Many thanks to all who made this shoot a success!

JPGs from Ben’s B-day Bash at WB

December 2, 2008 / Editorial, News

In November there was a little known surf contest held down at Wrightsville Beach. Ben Bourgeious, pro surfer and WB local came home for a 30th birthday bash and decided to have a surf contest. The prize – his 1995 Chevy Blazer. Needless to say the groms were out in force. The waves were small, but the energy that day was amazing. Here is a handful of my favorite photos. Enjoy!

Passion on Lane 28

September 18, 2008 / Editorial, News

On a recent video shoot, I was asked to capture some stills of a lonely bowler. The trick was you didn’t know he was alone until the end of the spot. For one of the scenes he was supposed to act really excited about getting a strike. I knew this would make the most interesting visual. It’s not often you get this level of intensity from paid professional talent, much less an amateur. He really got into it. Great job Brett!               I’m passionate about taking great pictures. What are you passionate about?
